Photography is an art style that demands miracles. After all, a photographer is only capturing an image or moment that anyone else could see as well – if they were there, in the same place at the same time. It’s up to the photographer to make the image somehow more than could be perceived in real life. From inanimate objects, a photographer must draw emotion and meaning. Into still images, a photographer must breathe life. From creatures great and small, a photographer must harness and exemplify thought, personality, spirit and soul. Through techniques of lighting, exposure and angle, a photographer can enhance the perception of the captured moment…but it takes an artist’s eye to capture moments that can move the beholder. A photographic artist must have the patience to wait until all elements of the moment are perfect and most effective for the intended statement. A photographic artist must make frozen moments speak.

I am Vickie Holt, and I am a photographic artist. For many of my artistic images, I use ordinary objects or phenomena and shoot them in ways that turn them into something else completely. I also specialize in animal photography, and have been lauded for my ability to reap personality and spirit from any creature. I have always been fascinated by the world around me. Since I was a child, I have taken great joy in exploring my environment and the myriad life forms that share it. Through my camera, I am able to show others my vision of the world, as well as the wonders of my imagination. From the standard, to the unusual, to the illusion of normal objects turned extraordinary through macro and positioning, my body of work is diverse and fulfilling to myself as an artist. There’s no telling what I might photograph from one day to the next. My eye is always open to any possibility for a meaningful image. My goal with every click of the shutter is to create a still image that yet breathes with life, personality, humor, or any other profound emotion that might occur between the image and the eye that beholds it.
